Bio

Laura Corre  lives and works in Serravalle Pistoiese. She graduated in Foreign Languages and Literature in Florence while at the same time following her path in the visual arts. Figurative painter, for her works one can speak of conceptual realism and artivism, due to the social inclinations always present in her works. The topic on which she most confronts is that of women.  Through her artistic activity she explores the multifaceted and contradictory reality of women, including themes such as feminism, body image, stereotypes, commodification, drawing inspiration both from her own lived experience and from contemporary culture and society. Other recurring themes in her works are the transience of life and the ecological urgency she  conveys through  landscapes, and still life with cacti, flowers and books. Versatile artist, she mainly paints oil and acrylics on canvas, but loves to experiment with other techniques such as assemblage, collage  and embroidery on canvas.  Her paintings are characterized by a wide palette in which she alternates cold pastel shades with more lively colors; the perspective is often altered and the compositional cuts risky. Since 2018 she has been working on the artistic and social project in progress “#quellache. True stories of women against prejudice ”, with traveling exhibitions and publications. With her artistic activity she has been collaborating for some time with various associations in favor of women in the area. Her works are part of public (including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montecatini Terme) and private collections all over the world.  In 2017 she ranked second in the international art competition  in Terni and in 2021 she is among the finalists of the Apulian “Il Francobollo d'Oro” award.  Her works have been used as book covers and playbills,  and have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
